I bought this pillowcase along with a a smaller one by the same manufacturer after my finance learned she was allergic to dust mites.

Prior to the purchase, my main concern was that the protective barrier would be either noisy or uncomfortable. Fortunately, that didn't turn out to be the case. While it isn't so soft that you can forgo putting a normal pillowcase on top with an additional layer there is no noticeable difference in comfort.

Of course the real question is, "Does it work?" Sadly, I don't have any sort of microscope or mite detector set-up in my home so can't answer that - hence only giving the pillowcase 4-stars. If I was somehow able to verify its effectiveness I would have no reservations in giving this product 5-stars.

A microfiber barrier fabric that offers completely "undetectable" protection against dust mites. While exceptionally strong, this luxuriously soft fabric is made of ultra fine fibres resulting in a fabric which is finer than the most delicate silk. The specially formulated fabric is made of tightly woven yarns that block out allergen molecules of less than 3.03 microns in size, while still allowing air and moisture to pass through freely. Extra long rustproof zipper for easy insertion. Zipper has both an outer and an inner flap closure for extra protection. Binding on inside seams for extra strength and protection.
